As founder of Green Career Tracks, Barbara Parks specializes in career coaching for people who want to create work opportunities that promote sustainability and social justice. Barbara has a solid track record helping hundreds of individuals gain meaningful work in a changing and challenging economy and job market. Her clients have included college graduates, first-time job seekers, dislocated workers, and mid-career changers. She draws on 15 years' experience as a career and employment counselor for a jobs training program, corporate outplacement counselor, workshop facilitator, and instructional designer. With offices in the SF Bay Area and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metropolitan Area, she combines a background of corporate, non-profit, and entrepreneurial experience with a degree in Communications, Leadership in Public Policy training at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute, and certified training in spiritual direction. She has been involved with the American Society for Training and Development, the Minnesota Career Development Association, the International Spiritual Directors Association, and several career planning and adult development networks. Barbara developed and facilitated Creating Your Lifework, a program designed to integrate self-discovery and job search strategy in the search for a meaningful lifework and career track. She has also presented on topics concerning career planning and job search strategy at adult development venues, career counseling conferences, and community colleges.
