Why Turtle Talk? Besides the fact that turtle represents the earth as teacher, I’ve been deeply connected to turtle as a totem and personal guide for many years. I happen to find the fact that turtle won the race because he was more mindful than the hare to be truly inspiring. The fable greatly confirms my belief that a green career track is more about the conscious career choices we make along the way than scoring the prize job as the end result! I began blogging when Green Career Tracks was launched nearly five years ago with the intent of keeping a current perspective on the growing green job market. Then I got busy. Really busy! Coaching individuals to create a green career track that speaks to their transferable skills - and deep connections to sustainability. . . Researching green industries to keep up with waves of new, sustainable technology. . . Following the “green job vs green collar job” media blitz. . . Developing a new green career planning and development model and authoring a book, an online course, and a complete new green career search program (soon to be launched!). . . Networking, networking, and more networking – with informed, eco-minded folks to learn where the real green job openings are. . . and tracking the social media frenzy to separate exciting, new Internet marketing tips from the, ah. . . noise. I’ll share all of the above with you as we celebrate Green Career Tracks’ success as a premier green coaching business. You're invited to learn - and participate! – as we “rewire” Green Career Tracks’ website with two dedicated, resourceful interns and a ”tech/web developer” on board to help make it all happen. Best to all, Barbara |

Economy Thawing Out? |

A friend remarked in his blog today that he thought the economy was
"thawing out." But I don't really want the old economy back, do you?
Take a tip from Midwesterners who are wary of what you find under
melting snowdrifts during a first Spring thaw.
The lesson is: tread
cautiously after a thaw until it's time to plant new seeds.
Green Career Tracks is
busy planting seeds in the new green economy. After coaching and working with hundreds of individuals committed to working for a more sustainable world, we're witnessing an active movement to reshape the linear, extractive economy of an Industrial Age that no longer works for the planet - or its people.
We're daring to reinvent the way we work and do business while helping others clarify their green career or business visions. We're teaching individuals how to position themselves for a green career in a steadily growing green economy. And we're collaborating with other eco-minded folks on the future of strong, local and sustainable economies and how they foster new work opportunities.
Maybe the best place for the old economy and its debt-heavy culture is on ice.
Best to all, Barbara
